The Senate has approved amendments to the EAEU Customs Code Agreement.
The changes are aimed at aligning national legislation with international agreements and take into account the development of e-commerce.
Key amendments include:
- introduction of a new legal entity – the e-commerce operator, which will handle logistics of online purchases, facilitate interaction between online platforms and customs authorities, and oversee the declaration and storage of e-commerce goods;
- introduction of a new type of customs declaration specifically for e-commerce goods;
- transitional provisions to ensure a gradual implementation of the new rules and reduce the burden on market participants.
The draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Amendments and Additions to the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On Customs Regulation in the Republic of Kazakhstan’” has been submitted to the Mazhilis for further consideration.
